Where is Te Atawahi and how do I get there?
Te Aroha is a rural town in the Waikato region of New Zealand, located 141 km southeast of Auckland, 53 km northeast of Hamilton, and 50 km south of Thames. The simplest route into Te Aroha is via private or rental car. Alternative routes are outlined here.

What should I bring?

A full gear list will be sent to you upon completion of your Wholeness Retreat registration.

Do many people come on their own?
Yes. It is an ideal opportunity to nurture yourself and have the space to think and contemplate without consideration of friends or partners. If you travel alone you will be well taken care of and will find yourself in the company of like-minded individuals.
Can I choose my travel dates?
Yes we have a range of wellness retreats available throughout the year. All of these packages start on a set date therefore it is essential that you arrive on the starting date of the program.

What time should I arrive?
6 pm for a meet and greet and overview of the retreat. Dinner will follow at 7pm.
Do I need to request massage and wellness consultations in advance?
Yes, we will send you a list of activities for you to select from, and book in advance.
How should I prepare for my visit?
      • Reduce your intake of toxins i.e.; sugar, coffee, alcohol, and tobacco
      • Minimise your consumption of food that comes with a label
      • Start to think about your idea of wholeness
      • Start adding some movement into each day
      • Make sure any footwear you intend to bring is well worn in
How big is the group?
Between 10 -12 guests.
Are there any age or health restrictions?

Te Atawhai caters for guests 18 years or older.

What level of fitness do I need?

We have a choice of gentle walks, or  more challenging mountain hikes – you can choose the option best suited to your fitness level. The daily mountain hikes can be challenging but are achievable by all, and are well supported by informed and encouraging guides.

Do I have to do all the activities?
No you decide each day which activities you would like to participate in.
There will always be a choice.

Do I have time to chill out and relax?
There is time set aside each day for relaxation and reflection.
Can I use my mobile device?
To help you disconnect, we have created a mobile free low tech environment. Use of mobile devices is restricted to your room. Family and friends will be able to contact you via the main reception number +64 27 242 7468 or by email on [email protected] .
Can I bring my laptop and is there internet access?
During your short stay, we encourage you to disconnect and focus on yourself and take time to tune into the needs of your health and wellbeing. Bringing work with you can distract you from your time out so we advise you not to bring your laptop.
What if I have specific dietary needs?
Te Atawahi offers guests the opportunity to re-evaluate their relationship with food and to introduce a new philosophy to nourishing their body. Our chef works closely with our nutritionist to ensure we provide a fully organic, whole foods diet and we are also well versed in catering for a wider range of food allergies and intolerances. Please highlight your needs when making your booking.
What else should I be aware of?
Te Atawhai is a non-smoking retreat and drinking alcohol or caffeinated drinks is actively discouraged for the duration of the retreat.
What happens if I am unable to attend the retreat I have booked on due to an unforeseen event?
If you are unable to attend the retreat you have selected, for any reason, Te Atawhai will hold a credit for you on file for a period of 12 months to allow you to rebook at a more convenient time.

In the event you need to make changes to your booking, the following additional charges will apply:

Postponement more than 10 days prior to arrival will incur a fee of $100 per person. Postponement less than 10 days prior to arrival will incur a fee of $250 per person. Cancellation or postponement 24 hours prior to arrival will incur a fee of 50% of the total package. Cancellation or no show on the day of arrival will incur a fee of 100% of the total package.

When do I need to pay for the retreat?

A $500 deposit is required upfront to secure your place on the retreat. The balance of the payment will become due 14 days prior to your arrival and the credit card you have authorised for payment of the initial deposit will be automatically debited for this final payment. If you would like to use an alternate method of payment please contact us at [email protected]co.nz otherwise the credit card on file will be automatically debited.

All retreat payments, including deposits, are non-refundable and non-transferable and are valid for 12 months.
